Eastern Telecom Region is one of the four organizations of BSNL with primary function of operation and maintenance of long distance transmission systems which include Optical Fibre, Terrestrial Radio and  Satellite systems. ETR  covers entire  Eastern  India which   includes  the  states  of  West Bengal, Bihar,   Jharkahnad,  Orissa, Assam,   Meghalaya, Sikim,  Tripura,  Nagaland,  Manipur,  Arunachal   Pradesh, Mizoram and Andaman and Nicobar islands.

ETR is also responsible for  traffic planning in order to ensure availability of   uninterrupted   communication  services.  It provides leased circuits to different users which include Government as well as Private organizations.
